Please tell us a bit about yourself.
Hi! I’m Jacktheoneye based in Istanbul. I studied art in high school and graphic arts at university. I worked as an art director at agencies and get back to my first love, illustration. I am an independent illustrator now.What mediums do you use to express yourself?
I was a traditional artist because of my fine art background. I met Graphic tablet in my early 20s. And I love digital illustrations. On the traditional side, I love watercolor so much. During the pandemic, I started to paint a series of nude females with watercolor and acrylic. When I entered the world of NFT, I become a completely Web3 person. I create 2D illustrations and frame-by-frame animations.Are you a Solo or Collaborative artist?
I usually work solo but I did some collaborations, and it was very fun. I like to meet creative people and listen to different perspectives. We are planning to create collaboration soon with a Web3 friend.How do you/your perception of art differ from others?
I think I have a colorful but a little dark art world. I usually don’t plan my work; I start drawing impulsively. You can see my different personalities and emotional differences in my illustrations. I like to use unrealistic colors for my figures.Is there a fav artist or an artwork that inspired you/your style?
I admire Egon Schiele's works from the past, his use of anatomy and colors. Now I find the works of Denis Sarazhin incredibly beautiful. Again, the colors and brush strokes he uses are breathtaking! I admire August Lamm's drawings because I love the cross-hatching technique. I think I just mentioned traditional artists, but these were the first ones that came to my mind.What was the last Exhibition you visited?
I haven’t visited an exhibition since the winter. It was “Sirän:4 – Antidote” and I was included, too. 😊Are you familiar with Web3 /NFTs/Crypto?
I am in NFTs since 2021 December. Quite a long time, but I still don’t understand some terms and things. At first, I thought I couldn’t figure it out to open a wallet or mint my art, but I got this, ha-ha! Web3 gave me more freedom than I needed to.Is AI your Enemy or Friend?
I see AI as an opportunity. I don’t use any AI programs for my art, but I use sometimes text for my other businesses.
”I would suggest that, regardless of the medium in which you are creating, be it 2D, 3D, motion, or AI, you take the time to learn the basics of art. Familiarize yourself with fundamental concepts such as the use of light, colors, textures, shapes, and composition. Whether you choose to attend a school or take a course is inconsequential; the key is to continuously strive for self-improvement. Discover your own unique style and let it shine.
Remember, it's important not to rely too heavily on the opinions of others, including my own. Instead, seek opportunities to connect with fellow artists, engage in meaningful conversations, and explore new places. Inspiration seldom arises within the confines of a solitary room. Embrace your true self and resist the temptation to become a snob. Open yourself up to experiences and let your creativity flourish. :D ”
