Please tell us a bit about yourself.
I am a collage artist and often create surreal and grotesque compositions where I select existing materials - artworks, historical photographs, icons, commercial designs, etc.- decontextualize and compose them to serve the meta-context of my own creation.I started 8 years ago with analog collages and have been continuing this journey for the last five years with mostly digital ones.
Since I started making collages, I have been pursuing the language of composition in which concepts and events are deconstructed as they are in poetry to create visual poems.
What mediums do you use to express yourself?
I mostly use collages and collage animations to encapsulate my concepts, which are the mediums I believe I am the most proficient in, but I also won’t hesitate to use oil paintings and digital manipulations to capture different forms of expression. Are you a Solo or Collaborative artist?
I am mostly a solo artist, but have multidisciplinary projects with my poet lover DEVSPOETICVS, with whom I get the most pleasure from thinking about art and developing the concepts that emerge during our brainstorming. And more to come, thankfully :,)How do you/your perception of art differ from others?
I believe that art is not primarily about what looks beautiful but is endowed with the magic of what disturbs your comfort. I see art as revealing the human tendency to turn the most bizarre compositions into reality and thus enabling us to make sense of its shadows in its millennia-long journey, bringing us closer to it instead of pushing us away from it, and in this way shedding light on the everyday experience of 'man' in a timeless way. Hooray for every art and artist who, with sincere curiosity and a fearless desire to experience, digs beneath all the concepts that 2000 years of Man has used to construct himself.I think it is my difference to produce art by approaching art as a tool that works in this way, and I believe that what differentiates art production is often the way it is perceived.
Is there a fav artist or an artwork that inspired you/your style?
Jean-Michel Basquiat holds a significant place in my life as an influential and open-minded figure who sparked my passion for art from the very beginning. His rejection of social conventions and unique approach to the creative process taught me, at a young age, that the way we handle our thoughts can form the foundation of all design and redesign. On the other hand, Salvador Dali's compositions introduced me to the poetry of artistic arrangements, shifting my focus from mere brushstrokes to the deeper meanings behind each piece. As I admired these great artists, realized that I couldn't replicate their precise painting skills, which ultimately led me to explore collage as my artistic medium. It was a choice inspired by my desire to express myself in a way that didn't rely solely on technical mastery but allowed for a more experimental and imaginative process.
Andy Warhol's dream and his iconic Factory played a pivotal role in my journey toward becoming Dilan, the artist. The idea of a creative space where artists could freely collaborate and experiment resonated deeply with me, pushing me further into the world of art, where I found my true calling.
However, the one who ignited the spark that set everything in motion was Charles Bukowski. His raw and unapologetic portrayal of the world, with all its ‘ugliness’, connected with me on a profound level. Through his work, I discovered a new perspective, one that mirrored my own experiences and embraced the beauty in ‘ugliness’. It was this genuine and sincere connection to art that opened the doors to my artistic journey.
In conclusion, the combination of inspiration from Basquiat's open-mindedness, Dali's poetic compositions, Warhol's creative vision, and Bukowski's unfiltered outlook on life has shaped me into the artist I am today. Each of these artists has played a pivotal role in guiding my artistic path, encouraging me to embrace my unique approach to art and express myself authentically.

The exhibition Dreamers of a New World (Yeni Bir Dünyayı Hayal Edenler) at Nişantaşı Kalyon Kültür, in which I took part with my digital collage animation work ‘Sartre’s Vomit’, through the association I work with :,)What does Innovation mean to you?
Implementing changes that offer new possibilities for interaction, enabling them to pioneer pathways that create new problems and solutions in their own right, through the identification of new problems and the discovery of new ways of solving them. Are you familiar with Web3 /NFTs/Crypto?
I am indeed well-versed in Web3, NFTs, and cryptocurrencies. My knowledge of these topics has been enriched by my two years of experience in the NFT field, where I have actively engaged with the latest developments and trends in the blockchain space. Moreover, the people I have interacted with in this field have deepened my understanding, as they are passionate about exploring the possibilities of Web3 technologies, the revolutionary concept of NFTs, and the evolving landscape of cryptocurrencies. Is AI your Enemy or Friend?
AI is undoubtedly my friend and its creative process is remarkably similar to mine. In the 21st century, it is widely acknowledged that true novelty is increasingly challenging to achieve since virtually every idea or creation in the world has been previously explored in some form. This recognition compels us to delve into deeper inquiries to dissuade artists from believing that they can attain and sustain 'originality' by merely perpetuating their existing style. Such a belief hinders them from embarking on new concepts, embracing a breath of fresh air, and exploring novel ways of questioning and expression that can transcend their current artistic paradigm. In my perspective, Artificial Intelligence stands as a revolutionary innovation that compels us to face this reality, reinforcing the notion that we cannot escape this continuous questioning and evaluation within certain aspects of the artistic process, which are often misunderstood. Please tell us a bit about a recent piece of the art world that has particularly interested you.
