Please tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m Ozan, also known in the NFT space as OMD. I’m a visual artist based in Istanbul, Turkey, focusing on nudism and experimentalism in my works. Although I’ve been working professionally in the field for more than twelve years, I started my NFT journey around two years ago.
”I shoot people for a living. Creating experimental & sexy stuff.”What mediums do you use to express yourself?
Mostly photography, though I have also delved into motion design for my Tezos blockchain artworks. Are you a Solo or Collaborative artist?
I work alone most of the time, but there are occasions when I engage in collaborative projects, mainly with great artists such as Otostopcu and Axstone. How do you/your perception of art differ from others?
My main sources of inspiration mainly come from uncanny atmospheres and scenes which I feed from visual mediums and mostly movies and music I watch and listen to. The concept of changing female figures into such sci-fi characters could be the thing that separates me and my creations from others. I also dislike convoluted and messy scenes.from OMD objkt profile Is there a fav artist or an artwork that inspired you/your style?
There are just too many of them. I can draw inspiration from almost anything, even sliced cheese if I try hard enough. What was the last Exhibition you visited?
I explored NFT.NYC virtually, although my NFT was physically present. It allowed me to discover many great artists and their artworks featured at the event through social media. What does Innovation mean to you?
Innovation should consist of building blocks. Whether it's a piece of a story or a new technique in one's work, it should evolve as you move forward. I don’t understand the idea of someone doing one single thing, unchanged, for the rest of their life. People and times change, and so should your creations. Are you familiar with Web3 /NFTs/Crypto?
Yes, I am, although I must admit I'm not the best trader. Keeping up with the rapidly evolving news in this space can be exhausting.Catalyst x OMD Is AI your Enemy or Friend?
Neither. It is a tool as any and can help you build whatever you’re trying to build. I was arguing this with my friend Doruk Seymen when AI started to become a thing and we were talking about how AI could generate scenery and environments for us so that we can draw inspiration from them in our shoots. Look at the AI we got now, it just straight up does that and can even place a figure of your choice in there for you. Of course, it looks a bit too uncanny and artificial for my taste so I still prefer the good old go-out-there-and-shoot method. Please tell us a bit about a recent piece of the art world that has particularly interested you.
I have been increasingly drawn to Esra Eslen’s creations. She constructs complex and crowded scenes, and every detail can be traced back to its source. Her illustrations truly convey the idea of organized chaos.
Any other Projects?
After a hiatus due to burnout, I'm back now. I have two edition drops coming soon, and I'm editing the first three pieces (series) for the Mesmera collection, all of which are 1/1s. I want to achieve and do more, but I also need to respect the pace and avoid getting bogged down.
” Do what you love constantly and you’re set for life. ”
Ozan, a master of visual art from Istanbul, emerges as a visionary with a daring and avant-garde style that resonates through his nude photography. Exploring the intricacies of the human form, he unravels the veils that obscure our perceptions, pushing the boundaries of traditional photography into uncharted realms of creativity.
In Ozan's artistic realm, skins and bodies transform into surreal androids or crystalline beings, creating an otherworldly symphony that challenges conventional notions of corporeal existence. His lens compels us to introspect, pondering the complexities woven into our very essence. Through his works, he emancipates the human form from societal norms, beckoning us to reimagine the harmony between body and soul. We bear witness to the delicate interplay of vulnerability, identity, and the enduring essence of humanity. Ephemeral whispers cascade across each canvas, evoking introspection and engaging in celestial conversations among muses, where the boundaries between reality and surreal visions fade away, revealing its secrets in hushed tones.
His art invites us to embrace the enigmatic, the bold, and the profound dimensions that reside within each of us—courage, innovation, and profound contemplation.
